Hi all,

This week in GAM111 we were taught about pick ups and connecting our in game activity in game to the U.I. system. Namely to count an action (collecting the pick ups) and have a number displayed in the U.I.. Also to increase an image to be a health bar. I was successful in the first part but the health bar image increase not so much. This I will have to work out in greater detail during my own time. As I am using my own system for health U.I. and pick ups this didn’t affect my games progress.

I was having trouble with a timer reset script which was the last thing to do before a final test build of my FPS assessment. Alan helped me out and we got it working. I have decided on a title for my game - Shinigami Island. Taken from a Japanese anime series called Death-note. Shinigami is their version of the Grim reaper.

Excited that finally my project was complete I decided to make the build. The build took about 40mins to complete, I copied it to my drive and set off home to do further testing. I then got home and preceded to test my finished product. Grabbing a note pad I Load it up.

The first thing I noticed in the testing was the bombs weren't firing, the next textures missing. Some enemies were invisible and just their health bars remain, also their sounds was missing.

Ugh again this is why its so important to make multiple builds and test.

After making these notes I open the project in unity. The Bomb-Shoot scripts and textures have been wiped from unity. I had the bomb script still open in visual studio when building this could explain why they were wiped, as for the textures I have no idea why they went.

I have a back up on my desktop of my project but unfortunately the script I had Alan help me with was lost. I have tried to replicate it from memory but I have been unsuccessful in doing it so far. After fixing these problems and reviewing the rest of the build, the bomb timer restart script is the final piece of the puzzle to solve before making a final build to test. This what I am working on at the moment.

I have given a build to some fellow students to test a let me know about general game play. I have explained about some of the glitches in it and asked them to ignore them. Instead to focus on general game play. All feedback will be received with an open mind as constructive criticism.
